Tegin brand has created costumes for a new interpretation of Igor Stravinsky's musical work "Les Noces" at the New Opera. Svetlana Tegin served as the costume designer for the production.
In "Les Noces," the artist and choreographer explore traditional Russian rituals and sacred singing. The performance features music by Stravinsky and composer Nikolai Popov, who wrote the prologue and epilogue for the production. Director and choreographer Pavel Glukhov adds the character of Ekaterina from Ostrovsky's "The Storm" to the plot.
Over 100 costumes were sewn for the performance. Svetlana used natural fabrics, linen, cotton, silk, and viscose. The female chorus costumes refer to matriarchy with their silhouettes, where a woman is the foundation of existence. The voluminous forms symbolize ancestral customs, while floral and plant ornaments symbolize fertility. The design of the male costumes embodies constructive progress and the laws of lineage.
Earlier, Svetlana Tegin dedicated the new autumn-winter collection to the roaring 1920s. The color palette includes black and white.
