The Tikhvin Icon is one of the most revered icons for centuries. Many miracles are known to have happened through prayers to this icon. It is currently housed in the Assumption Cathedral of the Ioanno-Bogoslovskaya Monastery.
"The Wonderworking Tikhvin Icon of the Mother of God, similar in measure and likeness to the ancient, world-famous wonderworking icon that is now located in the Tikhvin Bogorodichny Assumption Monastery near St. Petersburg," describe the holy representatives of the monastery.
Under the veil on the icon, which is located in Poshekhonye, several threads are kept - according to legend, they were taken from the robe of the Most Holy Theotokos.
