According to a recent study conducted by "AlfaStrakhovanie", a significant portion of money spent by Russian parents for back-to-school preparations goes towards clothing and gadgets. The study also reveals the most significant expense category.
The cost of a basic school uniform set is around 8,000-9,000 rubles. If the school does not provide uniforms, parents can spend around 6,000-7,000 rubles, excluding outerwear. An additional 5,000 rubles is needed for sports shoes and sneakers. A simple sportswear set costs about 2,000 rubles," experts shared.
Parents allocate around 10,000-15,000 rubles for purchasing tablets. However, laptops are more expensive, with 47% of respondents estimating their expenses to be around 30,000 rubles.
"11% of parents plan to buy new phones for their children at the beginning of the school year. The majority of them set aside 10,000-15,000 rubles for this," the study highlights.
The average cost of school supplies is about 3,000 rubles, according to analysts. If parents need to replace a backpack, the amount increases by at least 2,000-3,000 rubles. This will be the case for 27.8% of respondents," the company reported.
According to the respondents, the minimum cost for a first-grader's school set is around 23,000 rubles, while expenses for a middle-school student start from 25,000 rubles.
Additionally, parents also budget for gifts for teachers on September 1st. 37.6% of parents plan to buy flowers, with an estimated cost of at least 3,000 rubles per bouquet.
More than 1,500 respondents participated in the survey, which also provided Russian parents with advice on how to organize their day off on September 1st.
