Blogger Elena Blinovskaya made headlines when she showed up to her first court hearing in sneakers worth $1,000. The sneakers were designed by Alexander McQueen and are currently available for purchase at that price. Blinovskaya, also known as the "marathon queen," is facing charges of tax evasion amounting to over 918 million rubles, as well as money laundering and asset concealment totaling more than 43 million rubles.
Accompanied by her defense team, Blinovskaya entered the Savelovsky Court carrying a notebook and a thermos. It is speculated that the notebook contains the main points of her defense strategy. Representatives of Blinovskaya have requested that the hearing be closed to the public.
The criminal case against Blinovskaya, known as the "marathon queen," was transferred to the Savelovsky Court in the capital city. The charges against her date back to August 6 and include tax evasion and money laundering.
When asked about her activities in pretrial detention, Blinovskaya responded with a smirk.
