The federal project "Sport - the Norm of Life" within the national project "Demography" was completed in 2024. A new sports and recreational complex "Lokomotiv" was opened in Penza, and the football field and running tracks were modernized in the Vadinsky district.
The Kirilenko-Children Charity Fund equipped the "Komsomolsky" park with a basketball court as part of the "Playground" project. Currently, there are 4419 sports facilities in the region, where more than 82,000 people pursue their sports interests.
Penza Region can be proud of its developed network of school and university sports clubs. There are a total of 279 clubs in schools, 14 in vocational education institutions, and 4 in higher educational institutions. In addition to that, there are 87 sports federations and 74 organizations in the region. Children and youth sports schools provide activities for more than 45,000 children.
New GTO (Ready for Labor and Defense) sites will be opened in Sosnovka, Inderka, Kolyshlee, Bashmakovo, Kamensk, and Belinsky in the Penza Region by 2025. In addition, a modern "smart" training site will be opened in Serdobsk. Currently, there are already 30 sites in the region for GTO preparation and testing.
In 2025, Penza Region will host 15 championships, championships, and cups of Russia. Among them are cycling competitions, All-Russian Special Olympics swimming competitions, roller sports, and short track. Each new step brings the region closer to sporting heights.
