Russia has nearly halved its clothing imports from Turkey since the beginning of 2024. The amount spent by Russian companies on imported clothing from Turkey has decreased by almost half compared to the same period last year, totaling $253 million. The purchases of outerwear and knitwear have experienced the strongest decline. Specifically, the imports of men's knitted outerwear have decreased by 12 times, while the imports of women's clothing have decreased by five times. Additionally, the imports of Turkish knitwear and small knitted items, such as gloves and mittens, have decreased by eight and four times respectively. Despite Russia only accounting for 2% of Turkey's clothing exports, it ranks 12th among the largest buyers of this category of goods.
In Russia, two-thirds of residents in St. Petersburg admit to making impulsive purchases while shopping. Similar volumes of purchases were made by Kazakhstan, Denmark, and Saudi Arabia, while Germany, the Netherlands, and Spain were among the leading countries with 16%, 12.3%, and 11% respectively.
